Many of the quilts I make are in response to specific commissions from corporations, private individuals and public institutions. When you commission a quilt you can select the main colors for the project and decide on its dimensions. I will then prepare a proposal sketch and present you with a range of fabrics that I think are going to make a beautiful wall hanging. You will then have an opportunity to suggest alterations and ways to make the commission suit your exact taste.
Schedule and Delivery
The time needed to conceptualize a new wall hanging and bring it to completion depends on size of the work and availability of fabrics. Some of my fabrics must be custom dyed in Germany and may take several weeks to arrive. Commissions normally take from 4 to 16 weeks from start to delivery.
Satisfaction Guaranteed
Each commission must satisfy you, the client, or I will make a second, altered work for you and keep the first for my own collection. This will be done at no additional cost to you.
Price and Payment Schedule
Commission prices depend on fabric, complexity of design and size, and will average between $350 and $800 per square foot. A $200 non-refundable deposit is required to begin a design proposal. This fee is applied to the total cost of the quilt if you proceed with the commission. Half the total cost of the quilt is due at the start of production. Final payment is due after you receive and approve the quilt.
